This classic set of earthenware marbles in a handy netting bag can help your child to develop skills in hand-eye coordination, spacial reasoning, planning, strategy, cause and effect and three dimensional visualisation.
The set contains 16 marbles and one shooter marble, in a variety of colours.
There are so many varieties of marble games, providing hours of purposeful or open ended play. Here is just one:
The aim of the game is to collect as many marbles as possible by shooting marbles from a starting line into a group of marbles in the centre and outside the ring. Start by drawing a ring on the ground with chalk or with a stick in the dirt. Then, draw a starting line around the inner circle, as a mark for where to shoot the marbles from.
Each player puts a few marbles into the ring, and in turn, players shoot a marble from the starting line into the ring in an attempt to hit a marble out of the ring. If the target marble gets propelled out of the ring, he or she can keep the marble, and if both the target marble and the shooter marble leaves the ring, he or she gets another turn, however, they must shoot again from where the shooter marble rests. If a player shoots a target marble out, but his or her shooter stays in the ring, he or she may replace it with another marble, and keep the shooter marble.
